The Smiths

D.J. and Diane spent many long weekends in the Napa Valley. Those long weekends just kept getting longer. One day D.J. suggested calling a realtor to look at properties in the Napa Valley. The fifteen acres they found on that first day turned out to be their dream.

Diane is a Master Gardener and D.J.’s favorite past time is gardening. The Mediterranean climate and the Napa Valley soils make it one of the world’s great locations to garden.  They love the four seasons and there is no better way to experience the change in seasons than to live amongst the vines.

In 1999, the Smith’s planted eight of their acres in Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. In 2000, D.J., Diane and their two young daughters made the move from the Sacramento area to Napa. To complete restoration of Hagen Heights, the Smith’s built a new home in 2001.  The dwelling is reminiscent of a Tuscan villa, and an image of it is found on the wine label.
